Hi! I am Bex. I am an experienced Reading Recovery Teacher Leader & Every Child a Reader Adviser. I have been a teacher for 25 years & literacy adviser for 16 years with a Masters in Literacy Learning & Literacy Difficulties. I understand that each school setting and student's individual needs are unique to them. I am an accredited trainer for a range of literacy programmes as well as an expert in literacy, phonics and oracy and passionate about ensuring every child becomes a successful reader.

Reading Recovery is a trademarked intervention for the lowest achieving children aged around six years old. Over a period of 12-20 weeks non-readers and non-writers catch up with their on-track peers in their key stage 1 classroom. Delivered by a trained teacher (part of Reading Recovery Europe About Reading Recovery | Reading Recovery Europe - UCL – University College London) speak to Bex about initial RR teacher training or continued CPD for already trained RR teachers looking to continue their RR accreditation or looking to return to Reading Recovery.
Boosting Reading Potential for Primary or Secondary student does exactly that - boosts pupils from disengaged readers to fluent, confident and enthusiastic readers in just 10 weeks. Proven to improve reading outcomes for students from Year 1 - 10 when delivered 1:1 by trained teachers, support staff or volunteers. Reading Support
Inference Training can bridge the gap between decoding and comprehension and help students become confident and independent readers who read with meaning and for pleasure. Delivered by a trained teacher or support staff with a group of 4 students over a period of 8-12 weeks. Also amazing CPD for teachers and support staff to help develop subject knowledge linked to the metacognition of reading comprehension which can be used and developed to support classroom practice.
A reading and writing intervention for the lowest achievers in Year 1 - 6 (plus potential for SEND in KS3) who are struggling with phonics and supports students to see the reciprocity between phonics, reading and writing to develop these skills with immediate application. Delivered daily by a trained teacher or TA.
Talking Partners support oracy with students from Year R - Year 10. Oracy development in a small group to develop language skills but also social skills and grammar development.
